Back with a Bang, the new release of Interwoven TeamSite 6.7.2. It brings in lots of new features and improvements. Interwoven has been rated “Strong Positive” in Gartner’s “MarketScope for Web Content Management“. And that seems to me is because of Interwoven TeamSite. One of the strongest web CMS, so far I’ve seen.
Now lets take a look at the new features of Interwoven TeamSite which makes it so strong.
Merged Installation:
In the new installation of TeamSite has got the components (SitePublisher and Targetting ) merged with it. It earlier had the ReportCenter as a merged component. Still if anyone needs to install components seperately they can do it. However, the merged installation procedure reduces the pain for the configurations that have to be done after the seperate installaiton for other components.
New Server Platforms:
The new version of TeamSite supports latest operating systems.
- Solaris 10, Solaris 10 LDOM
- Solaris patch cluster containing OS and kernel patches are required prior the installation
- TeamSite required to be installed in a Solaris 10 global zone; multiple zones are not
supported as yet.
- Red Hat Linux ES 4.0 and 5.0 (32-bit and 64-bit) on x86 and x86-64 platforms.
- Windows 2003 SP1 and SP2 Enterprise and Standard Editions, Windows 2003 R2,
Windows 32-bit OS on x86 and x86-64 platforms
VMware:
TeamSite can now be run on VMware Server or VMware ESX.
New Application Servers:
The following applicaton servers are supported by TeamSite.
- Tomcat 5.5.25 (Currently sitepublisher only supports Apache Tomcat only)
- BEA WebLogic 10.2
- IBM WebSphere 6.1.0 update 11
VisualFormat Editor (VFE) Integration:
VFE can now be integrated in to your custom pages
Workflow External Task commands using URLs:
An external task can now be configured to run a URL command. The URL command can be configured to run from the TS local server or a remote server. The server needs to use Java for the same. I liked this feature a lot. Coz now one can actually do a lot of stuff using this task and the possibilities are numorous.
These are some of the new TeamSite features. And there are a lot more. You can refer to the Interwoven Support website or the documentation for more details.
How can I create a content store in Team Site 672?
Hi Venkat,
There are two ways to create a content store in TeamSite which is same as the older versions.
1). Use the command line iwstoreadm to create the content-store. e.g.- iwstoreadm -a C:\iw-store
2). Add an entry for the content-store to the iw.cfg under [locations]. e.g.- iwstore=C:\iw-store
Hello Interwoven professionals. I am in need of some assistance. I have a consultant position available for a Interwoven teamsite designer. It is an immediate need and the pay is quite competitive. Interested applicants should contact me via e-mail: ahalfman@epitecgroup.com
I am facing problems in importing files to teamsite from my local machine. When I try to import a file I’m getting an error like “error length connecting to …” and it crashes.
As per the configuration I will be using teamsite-6.7.2(SP2),JRE1.5,IE6.
Can you please advise me on this…
Hi Prakash,
The issue seems to be most probably due to the JRE or IE6. Have you tried import using FireFox. However, please check the log files located at /IW-HOME/local/logs/(servlerd_out.log and iwtrace.log).
1). Try using a different browser.
2). Try updating the JRE if it dosen’t work.
3). Try to import from a different client machine.
4). Finally if nothing works then log a case in support.
You can also check the related thread at devnet.
We are migrating an instance of this application to a Solaris Non-Global Zone called a Branded Zone running Solaris9, Your site states that this product must be ran in the global zone, this is fine but the question is if your product is installed in the Global Zone, do you support passing the device to the Non Global Zone? Does it work etc?
Thanks
Donald
Hi Donald,
Well I’ve not yet come across such a requirement. However, as mentioned in the TS documentation as of now it only supports Global Zones only. And I’m not sure whether after passing the device to the Non Global Zone the application would work. You can surely check out the support website if you are having support or AMC. Or else you could try devnet. Also let me know if you need more details on anything specific I’ll try to get appropriate information regarding the same.

Hi,
I am facing problem with Interwoven TeamSite,When we create DCR data is not getting saved into Database. What are the logs file i need to check for any errors.
Thanks
Sandeep
Hi Sandeep,
First of all you need to give me a little background of what is happening. I don’t know whether how the data is populated to DB. It might be that you might be using Data Deploy or Perl or Java or CSSDK. Well assuming the two popular approaches you might be using either DataDeploy or Perl to do so. If you are using the perl files you need to check the perl files for the log path. If you are using the DataDeploy then you can use the OpenDeploy Admin UI to see the logs. By default the TeamSite logs are residing in the TeamSite installation directory which is known as IWHOME(which could be C:/Interwoven/Teamsite). So the path would be IWHOME/local/logs.
Hi,
you are stating that TS can NOW be run on VMWare ESX. Was installation on top of VMware not supported before? Were did you find this information?
We have a client facing serious performance issues running TS 6.5 on VMware ESX. I’m wondering if this is would be an supported installation. Any hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dirk
Hi Dirk,
The given information is provided for the TS 6.7.2 and later versions. This information is sourced from the documentation provided by the Autonomy support. Earlier the TS installation was not supported on top of VMware. For the current versions also it supports selective operating systems and not that are supported by TS.
One of the reasons Autonomy didn’t support TS on VMware is the performance issue. If you don’t have good hardware then it is very difficult to run TS on a VM its very slow. I my self have a local VM for development but I hardly use it coz its too damn slow on a dual core with 2GB ram.
So my advice for you look out what is being extensively used on the system. Go to the support site and look at the documentation for the optimization of the extensively used modules. My targets would be Storage, Workflows, Templates, EventSubSystem, etc. Apart from this you will be able to get certain scripts from support website which will be able to help you get the performance numbers and you can then work on them.
what about version 7.1 now?
I’ll soon be updating the blog with the new post related to 7.1. I’ve been very busy lately. Will surely update this by next week.

Hello Everybody,
We are planning to migrate the teamsite server v5.5.2 running on Solaris 5.8 Box to TS 6.7.2 Version Running on Red Hat Linux Enterprise Edition V 5.3 , I will appreciate if you provde me the outline of the tasks that will be invloved in this migration activity.
Thanks In Advance
Sorry the new version will be v7.2.
Hi Lotus,
The TS version 5.5 is very old. There are too many things that needs to be taken care of. Most of the things depend on how the TS v5.5 has been implemented. However, I’ll provide you the generic details regarding the same.
1). Installation of the TS v7.2
2). Migration of the content stores
3). User/Group/Role migration
4). Customization migration (if any)
5). Integrations needs to be taken care of
6). Finally Go live
I would suggest before migrating do a POC on a vanilla system to get an idea of what all changes will happen after the migration is carried out. Once you know that it would be much more easier to implement the DEV, STAGE, and PROD systems if you are following this architecture.
Although the above are a very few tasks they can take as long as 6 to 12 months to finish depending on the complexity of the implementation.

Hi,
Can i use the Dot net in the teamsite. Actually we are working with the intervowen predefined tags upto now to create the template. Can i user Dot Net to create the DCT in Teamsite?
Hi Phani,
You’ll have to stick with the interwoven predefined tags as there is no other way to create a template in TS. However, there is a workaround to use other programming languages inside a DCT. That is I’ve used inline tag to call a perl program which in turn calls other java program. Similarly if you want you can use programs in other languages but partially.

Hello, Professionalist of Teamsite,
An error happens when I browser it after I successfully installed teamsite 6.7.2 sp2 on Red Hat Linux.
The biggest issue is I cannot see anything except the flashing screen with a small white strip around with black.
Can you tell me what problem it maybe?
Do you have any idea how to uninstall from linux?
Thanks a lot!
Bobby
